The Opportunity
We’re seeking an experienced Paraplanner to join our product team. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented advice professional who is passionate about improving the quality, accessibility, and scalability of financial advice through technology. Specifically, you will be leveraging your paraplanning and advice experience, to create the future of financial planning software.
You will play an instrumental role in translating real-world advice practices, regulatory requirements, and client scenarios into high-quality product logic, content, and workflows. Working closely with product managers, engineers, and other finance domain experts, you will help ensure our tools reflect best-practice advice standards while remaining clear, compliant, and user-friendly.
This is a technology product paraplanning role; not a client-facing advice role.
Key Responsibilities
Advice Logic, Scenarios & Documentation (40%)
- Design and document advice workflows and client scenarios across accumulation, transition to retirement, and retirement phases
- Define and maintain financial planning assumptions, business rules, and advice logic used within products developed
- Develop compliant advice templates, outputs, and disclosures aligned to scaled and digital advice frameworks
- Create and validate advice scenarios covering contributions, rollovers, pensions, investment strategies, centrelink, and insurance considerations
- Ensure advice logic reflects current superannuation, tax, and social security legislation
Product & Business Analysis (30%)
- Translate advice requirements into clear user stories, decision trees, and functional specifications
- Collaborate with product managers and engineers to ensure accurate implementation of advice logic
- Define acceptance criteria that ensure advice outcomes are technically correct, compliant, and client-appropriate
- Contribute to the design of AI-assisted guidance flows and advice explanations
- Support the ongoing evolution of advice capability across products
Quality Assurance & Compliance Support (20%)
- Review and test advice outputs across a wide range of member profiles and edge cases
- Support internal and external compliance reviews, audits, and regulatory assessments
- Maintain documentation supporting Best Interest Duty, appropriate advice, and record-keeping obligations
- Identify and remediate advice risks, inconsistencies, or gaps in logic or disclosures
- Ensure alignment with ASIC guidance, RG 175, RG 255, and professional standards
Stakeholder Collaboration (10%)
- Work closely with the Chief Product Officer to prioritise advice features and enhancements
- Partner with various internal teams to ensure advice logic meets regulatory expectations
- Support UX designers by providing clear advice explanations and content inputs
- Act as a subject matter expert on advice construction and paraplanning best practice
Essential Qualifications & Experience
Education & Accreditation
- Diploma or Advanced Diploma of Financial Planning (or equivalent)
- Paraplanner experience within an AFSL environment
Core Competencies
- Strong understanding of Australian financial advice frameworks, including the distinction between general, personal, and digital advice
- Deep working knowledge of superannuation, retirement income strategies, and member advice needs across accumulation and retirement phases
- Ability to support the design of advice logic and decision frameworks aligned to Best Interest Duty principles
- Experience interpreting and applying ASIC guidance (e.g. RG 255) and evolving regulatory reforms such as DBFO
- Capability to document advice reasoning, assumptions, scope, and limitations in a manner suitable for regulated advice environments
- Strong understanding of advice risks, warnings, disclosures, and consent requirements
- Ability to collaborate with compliance, legal, and product teams to design advice-ready systems and workflows
- Exceptional written communication skills with a strong focus on clarity, defensibility, and auditability
This role may evolve over time to support regulated financial advice capabilities, subject to legislative and regulatory settings.

- Experience contributing to digital tools that deliver guidance, modelling, or advice at scale
- Familiarity with agile product delivery environments and cross-functional collaboration
- Comfort working with ambiguity as regulations, product scope, and capabilities evolve
